Partnerships

We continue to work closely with Blackpool Council to deliver its social enterprise agenda and have:
- made specific and detailed contributions to the social enterprise section of the successful LEGI bid.
- produced a Feasibility Study looking at areas of council related activity which could be externalised and delivered through the social enterprise model
- produced a very detailed Second Stage Assessment of the Council’s social enterprise ambitions
- given specific assistance to Social Services to develop various services as social enterprises.
- helped projects to gain £250,000 in NRF funding.
- worked with Blackpool Council to produce a Social Enterprise Strategy
Blackpool Council continues to assist our objectives to reduce unemployment by developing social enterprises in the five deprived wards by assisting:
- people who want to help the community with their entrepreneurial flair
- community groups who can establish a trading arm
- social enterprises who want contracts from public organisations
Council for Voluntary Service - Blackpool, Wyre & Fylde
Mission Statement: “To enrich the communities of Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde by providing support and information to assist the development of the voluntary and community sector and to represent their views and ideals”.
- Blackpool Wyre & Fylde CVS has been active in supporting social enterprises and its volunteer network is currently contributing to many of its activities.
- The CVS were the accountable body for the forerunner of Blackpool Enterprise CIC – The highly successful BSED project.

The Blackpool Primary Care
The Trust has a strong interest in social organisations, particularly those directly or indirectly health related. The Trust also supports the development of organisations helping vulnerable groups. It is expected that businesses will emerge in all of these and other health related areas. Blackpool Enterprise Community Interest Company will encourage the establishment of new social businesses geared to the needs identified by the PCT as being necessary for the well-being of the residents they are helping.

SELNET is the representative body for social enterprises in the Lancashire sub region. It provides a range of services to member companies to support their growth and development needs and be the advocate for the sector in Lancashire.
SELNET is supported by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and Lancashire County Council. It contributes to Social Enterprise NW, a regional body bringing together the county’s network for the social enterprise sector. Together they represent the interests of England’s Northwest Social Enterprises and aims to encourage networking and mutual support. SELNET represents the region on the Board of the Social Enterprise Coalition – SEC: the voice of social enterprises for the UK.
