Changing Futures

Social Enterprise Solutions is a major partner, working closely with SELNET, in the delivery of The Changing Futures project in Lancashire. This project is part of the nationwide Building Better Opportunities programme, funded jointly by the European Social Fund (ESF) and The National Lottery Community Fund to help tackle the poverty and social exclusion faced by the most disadvantaged people in England.

Report a Loan Shark

Blackpool’s south beach is playing host to a fun day with a difference as local people look to raise awareness of loan sharks. And the centre-piece of the day will be a specially-commissioned 25-foot long shark that will be in the sea, near south pier.

Social Enterprise Solutions won a national award to create 18 new social enterprises in 18 months, generating 25 jobs in Blackpool offering an enterprise route to dealing with the town’s social issues. SES provide specialist start-up advice, support and access to a wider network providing the new social enterprises with a platform for sustainability.

Start Up Lancashire was supported by the European Regional Development Fund. It was a social enterprise start up programme that provided one to one business coaching, start up seminars and ongoing mentoring support to help businesses.

Blackpool Works – Pilot Project Over 50s into Self-Employment

The over 50’s project was based on the workbook ‘Planning and Starting Your Business’. The course was designed to take the learner, in clear and straightforward steps, through the sometimes challenging process of planning to start a business. In addition to the workbook, the project included inspirational speakers, presentations from professionals and mentoring from CMI approved advisors.

An innovative new shop with a collection of locally-sourced Lancashire food and craft producers has been officially opened in St Annes. A selection of locally sourced foods and crafts, all made by independent producers, are available at the Made In Lancashire store in Wood Street.
